Cat Project Meetings & Education Information - CLICK HERE to view the 4-H Education Calendar

All youth planning to show in the Cat Department at the Dane County Fair must meet these educational requirements:

  • Attend at least one approved education event (listed below)
  • Education Requirement Card – Complete this card after attending a species-specific education meeting/event to confirm attendance during the dates of 6/16/24-6/15/25. You should upload the completed card by June 15.
    • To upload the education card, please save the document as a JPG, TIFF, or PDF. Youth can take a picture of the education card to upload.
  • Submit the education card by June 15 via the ONLINE PORTAL (OPENS IN APRIL). Failure to submit this card by June 15 at 11:59pm will make you ineligible to show your animal at the Dane County Fair.
  • If showing in more than one species, youth must complete and submit the requirements for each species separately.

2025 Approved Education

  • 4-H Cat Project Meeting - Each meeting will include a brief presentation by youth leaders on a cat curriculum-related topic and discussions about how to turn cat knowledge into a vet science project.
    *Meeting topics TBD and subject to change based on speaker availability
    • 1/12/25 - Cat Project 101 – 1:00pm at 4-H Office (5201 Fen Oak, Madison) – Curious about the ins and outs of the cat project? Join us for our first meeting: Cat Project 101. The hour will be filled with cat health info, ideas about potential community service projects, Vet Science fair entry ideas, and the beginnings of personal cat goals for the year. It will be cat-tastic! (Humans only.)
    • 2/2/25 - Underdog Rescue Presentation – 1:00pm at 4-H Office (5201 Fen Oak, Madison) – Participants will learn hot tips on cat care from a long-time cat foster parent, including strategies for effective socialization and problem-solving problem behaviors! Participants will also learn about the cat fostering program at Underdog Rescue, including the organization's mission and what it's like to work with them.
    • 3/9/25 - Topic TBD – 1:00pm at 4-H Office (5201 Fen Oak, Madison) – Information to come
    • 4/6/25 - Topic TBD – 1:00pm at 4-H Office (5201 Fen Oak, Madison) – Information to come
    • 6/1/25 - Topic TBD – 1:00pm at 4-H Office (5201 Fen Oak, Madison) – Information to come
  • FFA Curriculum
  • 4-H Cat Project Meeting Presenter
  • 4-H Club Meeting – Cat Presentation – must send dates and information to the Fair Office (info@danecountyfair.com) prior to the meeting.
  • Open Cat Show – must show proof of participation and judging.
