Gates

Are you interested in earning community service/volunteer hours this summer and helping the youth of Dane County? The Dane County Fair is looking for gate monitors and gate wristband monitors volunteers for the 2025 Dane County Fair, July 17-20 at the Alliant Energy Center. All volunteers receive free admission into the Fair for their shift day, a Fair shirt, and a treat coupon.

Gate Monitors at the Exhibitor ONLY Gate, Vendor Gate, and Fairgrounds Drive Gate are needed to view wristbands and scan day tickets from exhibitors, exhibitor family members, vendors, staff, and entertainers. NO General Public are allowed at these Gates.

Monitor responsibilities include:
  • Provide Customer Service: The Fair is a fun place, and this is an opportunity to meet and welcome attendees. A friendly statement is made to visitors like “Welcome to the Dane County Fair – Have Fun!”
  • Scan tickets: As tickets are presented, they are scanned at the gate in for accounting purposes.
  • Day Wristbands: Apply a wristband to all attendees with Day Tickets; most will have season wristbands. This will serve as proof of gate access and allows them to re-enter until 8:00pm.
  • Distribute schedules: A daily schedule of events will be available via a QR code at each gate for attendees to download, and there may be a few copies available at each gate for those who would like a paper copy.
  • Shifts: All staff work in 4-hour shifts (8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm, or 4pm-8pm). If you need a shorter shift, please let the Fair Office know.
