Statz to be Crowned Fairest at 2018 Breakfast on the Farm

MADISON, WIS. – The Dane County Fair invites community members to attend the public crowning ceremony of the 2018 Dane County Fairest of the Fair at the county’s Breakfast on the Farm, to be held Saturday, June 9, at 9:00 a.m. Hannah Statz, of Waunakee, was selected for this role at the completion of the April 8th selection event.

Statz is the daughter of Craig Statz and Kim Groothousen. She is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville studying Dairy Science and is a longtime youth exhibitor at the Dane County Fair. Selected as the first runner-up was Emma Hanisko, of Cambridge.

“I am so honored to be named the 2018 Dane County Fairest of the Fair,” said Statz. “Hearing your name called on selection day comes with an overwhelming sense of pride and honor. I am most excited to meet everyone and learn from them, as well as teach our community about agriculture.”

In this role, Statz will attend community events promoting the upcoming Dane County Fair, July 19-22 as well as additional events across the state. She will also make daily appearances at the fair, meeting fairgoers, presenting awards to youth exhibitors and participating in various activities. Community members can keep up with her year as Dane County Fairest of the Fair by following her hashtag #LearnSomethingNewEveryDay or by liking the Dane County Fairest of the Fair Facebook page.

In the heart of Madison, the Dane County Fair is a “Country Fair with City Flair!” Home to free concerts, stunt shows, animals, a carnival and all the best fair foods, the Dane County Fair offers the best of both worlds. With a 168-year history, the Dane County Fair will once again be held at the Alliant Energy Center, July 19-22, 2018. For more information, visit, or our Facebook and Twitter pages.
