The Search Begins for the Fairest of the Fair
MADISON, WIS. – Young adults with a passion for their community and the Dane County Fair are encouraged to apply by March 17, 2017 to serve as the 2017 Dane County Fairest of the Fair. As the Dane County Fair’s official ambassador, the Fairest of the Fair promotes the Fair through appearances in parades and other community events, radio interviews and social media. The Dane County Fairest of the Fair also appears daily during the Fair, July 19-23, and will compete to become the 2018 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs in January.
“During my year as Fairest of the Fair, I experienced many networking opportunities, gained professional skills and developed tools for interviewing, conversation and meeting new people,” remarks 2016 Dane County Fairest of the Fair Molly Sarbacker. “Leadership is gained through this opportunity as well.”
Candidates should exhibit strong communication skills, have knowledge and experience of the Dane County Fair, be involved in school and community activities, portray a professional appearance and have a shining personality. Applications must be received by March 17, 2017 to be considered for the final interviews and selection of the 2017 Dane County Fairest of the Fair on April 2. The official crowning will be held at the Dane County Breakfast on the Farm on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Since 1851, the Dane County Fair has been a “Ticket to Fun” as it serves as the gathering place for the community of Dane County. The annual event that features a world class carnival, free concerts, animals, fair food, youth projects and more will be held July 19-23, 2017 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.
