Hometown Heroes to be Honored at the Dane County Fair

MADISON, WIS. – The Dane County Fair, in partnership with 94.1 WJJO, is recognizing Dane County’s military personnel, police officers, firefighters and first responders with Hometown Hero Awards. The awards will be presented on Thursday, July 20, during the Dane County Fair’s Hometown Hero Day, presented by Conney Safety at the Alliant Energy Center.

Anyone can nominate an individual with one of the aforementioned professions for a Hometown Hero Award by visiting www.danecountyfair.com by June 30 at 11:59 p.m. (CST). The five individuals selected to receive a Hometown Hero Award will be announced in July on 94.1 WJJO and will be presented with the following:

  • Four Free Daily Admission Passes to the Dane County Fair
  • Two Meet-&-Greet Backstage Concert Passes for the Thursday night concert at the Fair
  • Ride Coupons
  • On-Stage recognition during Thursday night’s concert
  • Interview on 94.1 WJJO
  • Free Food & Drink at the Fair
  • Certificate of Appreciation

In addition, all members of the military, police officers, firefighters and first responders will receive complimentary admission to the Fair on July 20, along with special deals from select vendors, in appreciation for their service.

Unique activities will be taking place throughout the day as the Fair celebrates Hometown Hero Day, presented by Conney Safety. The American Red Cross will be holding a Blood Drive and The Salvation Army of Dane County will be offering tours of their rescue vehicle. A resource fair for past, current and future hometown heroes will be in Hall A of the Exhibition Hall and a flag raising and lowering ceremony, at the beginning and end of the day respectively, will be performed on the patio at the northeast corner of the Exhibition Hall. Additionally, the first 250 people through the gates will receive a free Conney Safety goodie bag.

Since 1851, The Dane County Fair has been a “Ticket to Fun” as it serves as the gathering place for the community of Dane County. The annual event that features a world class carnival, free concerts, animals, fair food, youth projects and more will be held July 19-23, 2017 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.
