Gear Up for a Blue Ribbon Summer at The Dane County Fair

MADISON, WIS. – Summer is right around the corner, and it’s never too early to mark your calendars for the 2016 Dane County Fair held July 20-24 at the Alliant Energy Center. Each day of the Fair features unique and interactive activities that are sure to be fun for the whole family.

The Fair kicks off on Wednesday, July 20 with Dog Day of Summer. Talented dogs of all sizes will showcase their skills during interactive demonstrations held throughout the day in the Exhibition Hall. Demonstrations include past favorites, such as the Flyball Tournament and Freestyle Demonstration, and new acts, including the Dane County K-9 Unit and the 4-H Dog Project Demonstration.

In support of our local Dane County heroes, the Fair will be hosting the inaugural Hometown Hero Day on Thursday, July 21. Complimentary admission and special deals from select vendors will be provided for military personnel, policemen and women, firefighters and EMT’s. Special Hometown Hero Day activities will take place all day, including the American Red Cross Blood Drive, Operation Homefront Party, Resource Fair and Flag Raising Ceremony.

Specially designed activities for kids of all ages will provide hours of fun on Friday, July 22 for Kid’s Day. Kids can test their agriculture knowledge, decorate cookies and make puppets with Agri-Versity and 4-H Youth Day activities. New events this year will include interactive activities provided by ESPN Madison, and mini martial arts classes put on by Infinity Martial Arts.

Learn how agriculture makes an impact on Dane County during Ag Day on Saturday, July 23. Kids can see what it’s like to be a “Farmer For a Day” with the AG Activity Station. Stroll down Learning Lane and join the AgVenture Scavenger Hunt to learn about the different animals at the Fair. Watch tractors of all sizes and colors during the Fabulous Farm Babe Tractor Parade before racing your friends in the Kindschi Pedal Tractor Pull.

The final day of the Fair wraps up with Family Fiesta Day Sunday, July 24. All are welcome to attend a non-denominational church service, hosted by Charlie’s Concessions Sunday morning. Events and contests will also be held throughout the day on the Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison Stage.
