Dane County Fairest of the Fair Applications due March 18

MADISON, WIS. – The Dane County Fair is seeking candidates for the position of the 2016 Dane County Fairest of the Fair. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 18, with an interview and selection process to follow Sunday, April 3.

The Dane County Fairest of the Fair serves as the official ambassador of The Dane County Fair, promoting the Fair at local events, including Cows on the Concourse, “Twilight Nights” at the Madison’s Children’s Museum and the Dane County Breakfast on the Farm. The Dane County Fairest of the Fair also makes daily appearances during the week of the Fair.

“Because of this opportunity, I was able to see the Fair from a whole new perspective,” said Mariah Martin, 2015 Dane County Fairest of the Fair. “I attended youth exhibitor events and shows to hand out ribbons, conducted media interviews, participated in the daily entertainment shows and even met the concert entertainment. It was an absolute blast.”

The Dane County Fairest of the Fair program also teaches youth essential leadership and public speaking skills. “Through this position, I was able to improve my speaking and presentation skills, meet new people and learn how to balance a very busy schedule,” said Martin.
