Dane County Fair & JJO to Recognize Hometown Heroes

MADISON, WIS. – The Dane County Fair, along with 94.1 WJJO, is pleased to present Hometown Hero Awards to military personnel, police officers, firefighters and first responders in conjunction with the inaugural Hometown Hero Day on Thursday, July 21, at the Alliant Energy Center.

In appreciation for their service, all military personnel and public servants attending the Fair on July 21 will receive complimentary admission and special deals from select vendors with proper identification. Additionally, five individuals will be recognized with special Hometown Hero Awards.

Nominations for the Hometown Hero Award are currently being accepted; all military, police, fire and emergency responders are eligible. To nominate your Hometown Hero, go to the Dane County Fair website at before July 1. During the week of July 11, a winner will be announced on JJO each day. Winners will receive the following:

  • Four Free Daily Entrance Passes
  • Two Meet & Greets to JJO backstage
  • Ride Coupons
  • On-stage recognition on Thursday night
  • Interview on WJJO
  • Free Food & Drink
  • Certificate of Appreciation

Special Hometown Hero Day activities will take place all day, including the American Red Cross Blood Drive, Operation Homefront Party, Resource Fair and Flag Raising Ceremony.
