Education Card & Submitting Education Requirements Information

After attending an education meeting, youth should complete the following education card - CLICK HERE. The completed card will be uploaded to an online portal starting in February – more information available soon. Education requirements must be met by June 15, 2021 to show at the Dane County Fair.


Dog Project Education Offerings

The Dane County 4-H Dog Committee Adult and Youth Volunteers have an opportunity for youth to learn more about dogs and the dog project.

Youth can officially register for the dog project anytime. If a youth is interested in s

Livestock Education Offerings

The 4-H Livestock Education Committee has confirmed that the education programs below offered by the Wisconsin Youth Livestock Program (WYLP), in connection with the University of Wisconsin Madison Animal & Dairy Sciences Department, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and Division of Extension, can be used to meet your Livestock education requirement for beef, sheep and swine. These are LIVE Virtual Zoom educational programs.


To receive credit, youth must attend the webinar and complete the two forms below and upload them to the online portal that will open in February (more information on this soon):

These current topics are for youth and adults alike and occur on the 2nd Thursday of the month from January through May.  Each session begins at 7 p.m. CST with a presentation followed by Q&A.  You must register in order to receive the connecting information through email.

Small Animal Education Offerings

The Dane County 4-H Small Animal Committee and youth leaders have organized online Zoom education meetings on Saturday, January 16, 2021 for those youth interested in Poultry, Rabbits and Cavies (Guinea Pigs). These educational events are open to all youth and are free. Youth who are interested in showing poultry, rabbits and cavies at the Dane County Fair are required to attend an education event related to the animal species they will show.

YQCA - Youth for the Quality Care of Animals

is required for youth who will show animals at the Dane County Fair. Youth can complete this certification online anytime. There is a $12 fee for the online training. Currently, there are no in-person meetings scheduled due to COVID-19.

YQCA is designed as an annual education and certification program focused on food safety, animal well-being and character awareness for youth ages 8 to 21. The program has been designed by extension specialists and national livestock program managers to ensure it is accurate, current and relevant to the needs of the animal industry and shows and is appropriate for youth.
