News Releases For Immediate Release Area Businesses Support Dane County Fair's MADISON, WIS. – The 20th Annual Dane County Fair Small Animal Market Sale was held July 16, 2010. Thirty-two youth offered the sale's 58 lots which were comprised of 13 turkeys, 38 chicken broiler and roaster pairs, and 7 rabbit lots. The sale generated a total of $6,245. The largest supporters were the Stoughton FFA Alumni, purchasing 10 lots for $920; State Farm of Belleville, successfully bid on six lots for $830; Irv's Feed & Seed of Mount Horeb bought five lots for $565; and the State Bank of Cross Plains purchased five lots for $560. Sale Chairman, David Johnson of Marshall, was appreciative of the support shown the youth of Dane County. "I can't say enough about the buyers – new and returning – who are the backbone of this sale," said Johnson. "For two decades now, they have faithfully rewarded the hard work of our poultry and rabbit project participants at the Dane County Fair." Chicken roasters shown by Kayla Hagen, Mt. Horeb, claimed the Champion Market Poultry Award and were purchased by Joe Ryan for $125. Denise Rankin, Belleville, exhibited the Reserve Champion Poultry entry, a turkey tom. He was purchased by Weber Arabians for $250. The champion rabbits were exhibited by Dylan and Kyle Herbrand of Dane. Dylan captured Champion Market Rabbit – Meat Pen, purchased by Creative Connections for $125 and Kyle was awarded Champion Market Rabbit -Fryer and Champion Market Rabbit -Roaster. His Fryer was purchased by ITAC of Wisconsin, Inc. for $50 and his Roaster by Bill's Refrigeration and Mechanical also for $50. The champion entries were the first auctioned during the evening. Successful bidders at the auction also included: Brown Heating & Air Conditioning, Bruce Janssen, Columbus FFA Alumni, Dave Johnson, Dawn Goplin – State Farm, Deer Grove Vet Clinic, Frontier FS, Glen Kohler, Greg Geier, Midwest Cattle Company, Rademacher Dairy, Repro Quest, Inc., Sassy Cow Creamery, State Farm of Sun Prairie, TNT Auto, and the Veum Family. Special thanks to the many contending bidders who helped to support the sale. Auctioneering services were donated by Ryan George of Evansville, Wisconsin.
