News Releases For Immediate Release Dane County Fair Meat Animal Sale Results The 39th Annual Meat Animal Sale at the 2010 Dane County Fair grossed $123,261.82 compared to $114,673.27 in 2009 (for junior exhibitors), according to Nolan Andersen, UW-Extension Dane County Dairy and Livestock Agent. The sale again attracted wide community support with a total of 138 animals sold in the sale: 35 sheep, 54 hogs, and 41 steers. Sheep averaged $3.44 per pound compared to $3.71 in 2009. Hogs averaged $2.19 per pound compared to $1.89 in 2009 and steers averaged $1.46 per pound compared to $1.07 per pound in 2009. The Grand Champion Market Barrow was shown by Chester Ace of Oregon and was sold to Stoughton FFA Alumni for a price of $3.75 per pound. Woodmans purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow shown by Chester Ace of Oregon for $3.75 per pound. The Grand Champion Market Lamb, shown by Chester Ace of Oregon, was sold to Woodmans for $3.75 per pound. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb, shown by Cade Spilde of Stoughton, was purchased by Eldridge Ranch (Winters, CA) for $10.00 per pound. The Grand Champion Steer, shown by Cody Suddeth of Stoughton was purchased by Woodmans for $2.25 per pound for a total of $2929.50. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer, exhibited by Lydia Russell of Brooklyn was purchased by Woodmans for $2.50 per pound. The Top Ten Buyers at this year's sale were:
